New Leadership at Wisconsin Arts Board
MADISON, WI – The Wisconsin Arts Board met on June 19 and elected its officers for the coming year. They are: Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton, Chairperson; Linda Ware, Wausau, Vice
Chair; and Linda Grunau, Elm Grove, Secretary. Michael Reyes of Glendale will serve as a Member-at-Large on the Executive Committee. Chairperson Lawton then selected Robert Wagner
of Milwaukee to become the Board’s Budget and Finance Committee Chair, and by virtue of this position, the Executive Committee’s second Member-at-Large.
Lt. Governor Lawton said, in a statement to the Board, “I am honored to assume this leadership role because the Doyle/Lawton Administration asserts the importance of the Arts Board’s work to our
vision for Wisconsin. If our state’s economy is to grow, if that growth is to be experienced evenly across the state, we need to ensure a lively cultural context everywhere that will attract new
business and expansion in existing companies.”
“We look forward to the increased visibility the Lt. Governor’s leadership will bring to the Arts Board and its work,” said George Tzougros, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Arts Board.
Eight new board members joined the seven continuing Wisconsin Arts Board members Thursday in a day-long orientation meeting. The board members became familiar with the agency and its duties, and
established positive working relationships with fellow members, new and continuing.
