Madison Area Concert Handbells

The
Madison Area Concert Handbells (MACH), under the direction of Dr. Susan
Udell, is an auditioned community handbell choir that was formed in 1997.
Performing on six octaves of handbells and seven octaves of handchimes,
MACH appeals to audiences of all ages. The choir gives two main series of
concerts, one for the December holidays and the other in late spring,
which feature a variety of music styles: classical, folk tunes, ragtime,
marches, popular, and music from Broadway and the movies, as well as some
original compositions.
The 14-17 ringers bring over 250 years of ringing experience to the
group. In addition to the concerts, the full choir and ensembles have also
performed at weddings, anniversaries, parties and other celebratory
events.
MACH has performed at various locations in Madison, including the
Monona Terrace Convention Center, Olbrich Gardens, Elvehjem Museum of Art,
opening ceremonies at the Overture Center, on Jonathan Overby’s radio show
“Higher Ground” and with the Madison Symphony Orchestra at their Holiday
Concerts 2000, 2003 and 2004. MACH has also performed in other cities in
southern Wisconsin.
