Zene Peer demonstrates her sensitivity to her African roots by blending inspirational images beadwork hand embroidery and ethnicity into quilts that challenge the viewer’s sense of disconnection. The end product is at once complex, naive and knowing. Ms Peer believes that cloth has a spirit of its own. The colors tell her where they want to be placed. Peer says her work tells her what it needs and where it wants as I go. It tells her when to start and when it’s stop. She says that she is soooo glad when it says, “I am complete; for now.”
