Joan has been a sculptor, potter and mixed media artist for over 25 years, and presently owns Riverrun Studio and Center for the Arts. She has taught Art at the elementary through college levels, and has conducted numerous workshops for all ages in clay, creativity, felt-making, drawing and mixed media. She has led Art History trips to Ireland and Mexico, and leads art and eco-tours of the Northwoods. Her artwork is inspired by the symbols and designs of pre-history, as well as the place she calls home, the often lush and sometimes stark landscape of the northern forests.

Joan offers several workshops based upon the felt-making process which range from 1 to 5 days. Courses can be geared to ages eight through adult, and workshop content is varied and flexible. Workshop content always includes presentations, discussion and hands-on creation of artwork.
